Buy As You View Sponsors Real Athletic FC

A brand new football team has been given a new winter kit thanks to leading North-East retail and consumer finance company Buy As You View.

Real Athletic FC, from Hebburn, have formed a 7-a side under 8’s football team for the upcoming 2010/11 season in the Russell Foster League. The team was formed by Gerry Mulholland and Joed Hill, a Buy As You View Risk Controller, for their sons and other 6-8 year olds in the area. Being a new team, Real Athletics FC needed a range of equipment and kit to get started so Joed called his employer for support.

Joed comments: “I was aware that Buy As You View had a Community Fund to help grassroots causes like youth clubs and sports teams. As a new team, we were starting from scratch in terms of equipment so I asked whether Buy As You View could help. In total, the company has donated £300 for a kit that will see the team through the winter, including hats, gloves and fleeces.

“The boys are really grateful for the donation and myself and head coach, Chris Hodson, have high hopes for the team. We have played in a few warm-up tournaments over the summer and we’re looking forward to getting stuck in when the season starts in September. We’re aiming for the top and I’m confident of a shot at promotion next season.”
