Buy As You View dontates 32" LCD TV to Tyneside Challenge charity
March 10, 2011
Leading retail and consumer finance company, Buy As You View has donated a 32” LCD TV to the Tyneside Challenge charity.
The Tyneside Challenge is a ski club that gives people with learning and physical disabilities the opportunity to ski with trained instructors and with the added support of specialised equipment at hand. The charity has been running for thirty-eight years and is based in the Silksworth Sports Complex in Sunderland.
It’s the only service of its kind across the North East, attracting fifty-four members of all ages from North Yorkshire to Teeside. In addition to weekly ski sessions, the charity organises a ski venture every year for members; they travelled to Italy last year and will be travelling to Austria in March.
Volunteer and ski instructor, Silvia Hogarth who also runs her own Physiotherapy practice, has been volunteering with the Tyneside Challenge for 30 years and turned to Buy As You View for extra support to raise money.
Silvia Hogarth, said: “A friend told me that Buy As You View helps community projects and charities and I immediately thought of turning to them for some support. I was offered a 32” LCD TV and was amazed at the generous offer. We’ve decided to use the TV as an Easter raffle prize which we hope will spur more people to buy raffle tickets as it’s such a great prize.”
“We plan to buy new ski equipment for our members with the raffle money, and if we raise enough, we hope to hire another ski instructor for extra support.”
Buy As You View marketing director, John Smith said: “When we heard about the Tyneside Challenge and how it provides such a great service to people with disabilities, we immediately wanted to help with a donation. Our community fund allows us to give back to the communities where our colleagues and customers live and supporting these communities is a major aspect of our ethos at Buy As You View.”
